Documentation ShareISDN Client
Installation & Configuration of the ShareISDN
Client (for WindowsNT/2000/XP/Vista/95/98/ME)
(You should uninstall any previous version of ShareISDN first. Please
close all Control panel windows.)
Simply copy the file "SICSetup.exe" onto the computer
which is to use the ISDN-Card of another computer, double-click it and
follow the instructions. After the files have been copied into your system,
the Setup application launches the Control Panel Applet "ShareISDN
Client".If you are not using the default port 6500 on the ShareISDN
Server modify the Server port. The ShareISDN Server and its clients must
have the same port settings. Press the "Search" button, and
the Control Panel Applet will search for the nearest (fastest) ShareISDN
Server in your local network. Enter the IP-Number or name of the ShareISDN
Server manually, if a firewall blocks broadcast requests sent to the server.
If a password has been set on the ShareISDN Server, you must enter this
password here, otherwise the server will reject this client. The server
and its clients must have the same password, if a password is set on the
server.
Press the "Test" button to start the diagnostics. Only if all
four lamps get light green, the connection between ShareISDN Client and
Server could be set up and you can start using ISDN applications on the
client. If one or more lamps get red, then something is wrong. Press the
button "Error Log" to get advanced error messages and correct
the problem.
Press the "OK" button to write the settings into the Registry.
You do not need to restart your system.
Simply install (if necessary) and launch your ISDN applications.
If a problem occours you will be informed by Message Boxes. If you discover
that the ShareISDN Server rejects the connections, please check the LogFile
of the ShareISDN Server to get additional information. To do so, press
the "Error Log" button in the Control Panel Applet of the ShareISDN
Server.

- General
Use the following instead of the phone number (respectively Ip-Number):
"<Ip-Number> <phone number>"
where "<Ip-Number>" is the Ip-Number or name of the ShareISDN
Server, and "<phone number>" is the phone number which
the ShareISDN Server shall dial to build up an Internet connection. Please
don't forget the space character between the two numbers.
A possible entry could be:
"192.168.0.1 0191911"
(without the quotation marks)
You can set the own phone number (MSN) on the ShareISDN
Server if needed. Please read the manual of the ShareISDN Server.
Uninstall ShareISDN Client (for WindowsNT/2000/XP/Vista/
95/98/ME)
Make sure that you have closed
- every ISDN application
- the Control Panel Applet "ShareISDN Client" and the Control
Panel itself
Launch the Uninstaller of ShareISDN Client via the Start
Menu rather than from the "Add/Remove Software" Control Panel
Applet as in that case you can't close the Control Panel beforehand.
If, for some reason, the Control Panel Applet "ShareISDN Client"
couldn't be removed by the Uninstaller, simply delete the file "ShareISDNClient.cpl"
in the folder "system32" or "system".
